The TEC1‑09105 thermoelectric cooler works based on the Peltier effect. When DC current flows through the thermoelectric peltier module, one ceramic side absorbs heat (cold side), the opposite side releases heat (hot side). Reversing the DC current direction will swap cold and hot sides, realizing both cooling and heating function.
