This thermoelectric cooling device runs on the Peltier effect. When DC current flows through the thermoelectric cooler module, heat will be absorbed on one ceramic surface (cold side) and released on the opposite ceramic surface (hot side). By reversing the DC current direction, the cold and hot sides will swap, so the thermoelectric cooling device can realize both cooling and heating function for semiconductor temperature control. A matched heat sink is required to take away heat from the hot side during continuous operation.
